Benchmark indices slip, but stay in green; Nifty up 0.3%, Sensex up 0.5%

Gains in Mindtree, Tata Elxsi and Infosys were keeping the IT index in the green during Wednesday’s trade.

In the afternoon session, benchmark indices slid further but managed to stay in green. Nifty IT index was trading higher. Gains in Mindtree, Tata Elxsi and Infosys were keeping the IT index in the green during Wednesday’s trade.

Godrej Agrovet up 1.4% amid reports that the company plans to bid for Ruchi Soya, which is undergoing insolvency resolution process.

Hero MotoCorp down 1%, among laggards on the Nifty 50 index.

Shares of the Mumbai-based IT services company rose as much as 4.7% after it prepaid Rs39cr of outstanding debt, the company said in an exchange filing.

Shares of the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communication rose ~2% after its $300 million bondholders approved its asset monetisation plan.

At 2:15 PM, the Nifty 50 was at 10,152.35 points, up 28 points or 0.28%, while BSE-Sensex was at 33,134.04 points, up 137.28 points or 0.42%.

Bharti Airtel (+3.65%), NTPC (+2.28%), Bajaj Finance (+2.09%), Cipla (+1.64%) and Ultratech Cement (+1.61%) were top gainers on Nifty50.

Tata Steel (-1.85%), Eicher Motors (-1.53%), Vedanta (-1.50%), Bosch (-1.46%) and Tata Motors (-1.45%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,023 stocks traded on Nifty, 901 advanced, 772 declined and 350 remained unchanged.

A total of 6 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 58 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
