Sensex rises 250 points, Nifty above 10400, metal stocks shine

BSE Sensex rises by over 250 points, while the Nifty 50 trades above 10,400. Here are the latest updates from the markets

BSE Sensex gained 200 points in opening trade on Tuesday against the previous session’s closing. NSE’s Nifty 50 also rose past 10,400 level in the morning hours. Benchmark indices closed lower for last four sessions. Asian stocks rose in morning trade, tracking gains in US equities, as concerns eased on US President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs. Overnight, US stocks closed higher. S&P 500 at 2,720 points is up 1.1%. Here are the latest updates from the markets:

Market update
BSE Sensex traded higher by 169.64 points, or 0.50%, to 33,916.42, while the Nifty 50 rose 54.25 points, or 0.52%, to 10,413.10. BSE MidCap and SmallCap gained 0.65% and 0.56%, respectively. All the sectoral indices on BSE, except telecom, traded higher led by consumer durables, realty and metal.

Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd said it has bagged a Rs287.66 crore order for integrated irrigation solution project in Karnataka. Shares rose 2.98% to Rs70.85.

Bitcoin rises above 50-day average for first time since January
Bitcoin bulls may have just got the technical signal they’ve been hoping for. Bitcoin prices rose above its 50-day moving average for the first time since mid-January, up as much as 5.8% on Monday, the most in two weeks.

Metal stocks trade higher
Metal stocks trades higher amid a rebound in risk appetite driven by speculation that US President Donald Trump will soften his proposed trade tariffs on steel and aluminium. JSW Steel Ltd rose 3.1%, Jindal Steel and Power rose 2.7%, Steel Authority of India Ltd gained 2.7%, Vedanta Ltd 2.5%, Tata Steel Ltd 2%, National Aluminum Co Ltd 1.9%, NMDC Ltd 1.9%, Hindalco Industries Ltd 1.6%, Hindustan Zinc 1%.
