Sensex off highs, Nifty continues to hold 10,700; PSU banks fall

Barring Infra and PSU bank index, all other sectoral indices are trading in green.

Yes Bank, Infosys, M&M and Sun Pharma are among the top gainers on the key indices, whereas Airtel, IndusInd Bank, ONGC and Axis Bank lead losses. Here are the latest updates from the markets

Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE’s Nifty 50 traded higher on Monday following their Asian peers. The Sensex rose over 170 points in the opening trade, while the Nifty 50 traded above 10,700. However, investors will remain cautious ahead of a crucial RBI board meeting today amid tensions between the finance ministry and the central bank. Analyst expects that the key issues in board meeting will be easing rules for weaker banks, providing liquidity to non bank finance companies and framing a new capital framework for RBI. Most Asian stocks edged higher Monday even as U.S.-China trade tensions showed no sign of improvement over the weekend. Shares from Tokyo to Hong Kong rose, while Australian shares retreated.
