Gold futures fall 0.24 pc on profit-booking

Gold prices fell by 0.24 per cent to Rs 31,235 per 10 grams in the futures trade today as speculators locked-in gains at prevailing levels even as metal strengthened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October fell by Rs 75, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 31,235 per 10 grams, with business turnover of 738 lots.

Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in December lost Rs 74, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 31,561 per 10 grams, with business turnover of 131 lots.

Marketmen said gold futures fell as speculators offloaded their positions with a view to book profits at prevailing levels but metal’s strength in the global market capped the losses.

Meanwhile, gold traded a shade higher at USD 1,754.30 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.
